Accountants
Business owners can ask Google and the AI assistants which accountant to use, as well as searching. We check who gets named for your firm's questions, fix what keeps you out, and check how your professional body details show.
The questions
Examples of the kind of question we check, on Google, Maps and the AI assistants. They're examples, not results.
- “accountant for a small business”
- “who can do my self-assessment in Leeds?”
- “accountant who understands limited companies”
- “ICAEW chartered accountant near me”
What counts as proof you're real
Customers, Google and the assistants all look for signs a business is who it says it is. For regulated work, the regulator's register is the strongest one.
- ICAEWPublic directory
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
ICAEW runs a public directory of chartered accountants and firms. If you're a member, naming ICAEW on your website and being findable in the directory lets clients check you.
What we look at
Anything we find becomes a change for you to approve. We don't edit your site without your yes.
- Whether your firm is in the ICAEW directory under the name and address you give us, if you're a member.
- Whether your website names your professional body, on the home page and the contact or about pages.
- Whether the name, address and phone number on your site match the directory.
- Whether the same details appear on your Google Business Profile and listings.
- Other accountancy bodies keep registers too. If your firm sits with one of them, tell us which and we check that instead.
- We don't decide which registrations or supervision your firm needs. That's for you and your regulator.
- We check the directory by hand, using the link above.
- We never promise a ranking or a place in an assistant's answer, and we never write reviews or claims about results for clients.
